partnership handwashing initiative is developing standard
tools for:
Terms
of Reference for a PPP Handwashing Initiative National Coordinator
Handwashing
Behavior Study Framework
Handwashing Behavior Study (formative research) is
used to identify the practices that are putting people at
diarrhoea risk, and the ways we can change these practices.
Specifically, the HWBS addresses the 4 following questions:
1. What
are the high risk practices?
2. Who is the target audience?
3. What motivates handwashing practices?
4. How do people communicate?
Monitoring
and Evaluation
A global monitoring and evaluation framework is being developed
in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine and the Centers for Disease Control, USA to evaluate
the effectiveness of the handwashing campaigns in the field.
Monitoring and Evaluation Protocol
The M&E
framework contains a template to follow-up progress of activities
at the country program level. The monitoring framework is
for country teams to answer the "what" questions
(what is happening, what actions, decisions, products, progress
etc.).

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis
Resources available to an individual or economy are scarce
in relation to needs, and therefore it is imperative that
they be used in a manner so as to produce the largest possible
benefits. The economic analysis of the handwashing projects
will focus on justifying the investment in terms of the health/well-being
benefit the projects will yield over and above that which
would occur without the intervention.
